Message re: Internships / Devry College

Simple, two items to note:

1.        The budget for internships are in.  Please have your students complete the NYC DOE forms for employment.  Of extreme importance is the “Student Information/Parental Consent/Emergency Contact Information” form.  Without this form, I cannot send the student on an interview.  Students can start to send me their resume (please be kind to my mailbox), and schedule interview appointments.  The weeks of  10/18 and 10/25 are open. Students must come professionally dressed.
2.       DeVry applications are due by Wednesday, October 20.  This is another great opportunity for our students.  DeVry has waived the fee for our students; courses are three credits; and are scheduled twice during the week – so the students have a chance to work around their schedule.  The campus is conveniently located at 180 Madison Avenue, which is between 33rd and 34th Street in Manhattan. Let’s encourage them.  Thanks.

Advertising Futures Competition

Just a reminder, there is a meeting today for everyone interested in the advertising futures competition after school today.

In addition we will be going down to findr Interactive on Monday after school due to Yom Kippur. Come see me later today for a trip form.

Here is a print ad I found online:

See below for the email from Luba:

Hi Paul,

So great to meet you and your team. Very much looking forward to working
together.

We have researched some stories that highlight the issues the RFP asks to
address. Please find the link below. I think it will be helpful for your
students to take review as it brings the problem to life.

http://kidsafe.com/424/children-preyed-upon-by-online-predators-as-discussed-on-oprah/

If you feel it's appropriate, please pass the link along to your class.

I think it will be best to have our meeting on either Thursday afternoon, or
the following Monday. Friday is Yum Kippur and I will have to leave the
office a bit earlier.
Our office can accommodate about 12 people in the conference room, so you
are welcome to bring additional students if you'd like.

For our meeting I want to make sure that everyone has read through and
thought about the RFP. It would be great if each student can prepare their
questions and at least one idea on how they would tackle this campaign. We
will then guide their ideas and select the best one for execution. I would
also ask they think about which advertising campaign they like best, overall
in the general market. This will enable me to use comparisons and parallels
to guide their ideas.

The ad will be prepared in either Adobe Illustrator or Coral Draw.

Please confirm which date works best for you.

Thank you.

Best,

Luba Tolkachyov
